BIOGRAPHY

JODI NETZER is a multi-faceted multi-media creative communicator working as a Graphic Designer (Print, Web, TV), Performing Artist (Dance, Theatre, Stilt-Dancing, Puppetry & Masks, Installation Performance), Video Artist, Sound Collagist, Poet, Visual Artist, Event Organizer, and Arts Advocate.

A graduate of Philadelphia's Drexel University in 1997, Jodi has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Graphic Design with a double concentration in Film & Video and Theatre. With her many skills and talents, she often combines several mediums in her work.

Jodi is the Outreach & Marketing Director and the Director / Facilitator of the Community Theatre Program of the non-profit Tucson Arts Brigade), a community arts, education, and civic engagement organization. She taught puppetry and stilt-dancing at Bread & Puppet and Spiral Q Puppettheatre and is now teaching workshops incorporating all of her extensive, eclectic dance and theatre experiences acquired by workshops with performers from around the world, including physical theatre, Butoh, clown, African and modern dance.

Jodi is also Founder / Director / Producer of "THE WATER PROJECT: Tucson's Synergistic Water Festival", which celebrates, educates and facilitates creative problem-solving for our most precious and endangered resource – water. It includes a diverse program: Enviro-Vendor Fair, Policy Panel, Round Table Brainstorms, Performance, Art Happenings, Film Festival, Cross-Cultural/Inter-Faith Water Ritual, and more. Developed through cross-sector collaborations, the Festival combines the many voices of Artists, Water Experts, City/County Agencies, Educators, Businesses, Local Organizations, Youth and other community members proactively engaged in addressing water issues from various angles.

In both solo and group projects, she works with themes relevant to time and place, especially about interconnectivity, holistic health and well-being, environmental issues, socio-political awareness and arts advocacy — utilizing the arts as creative communication and expression for cultural development and intellectual enhancement.

As part of Jodi's many other endeavors, she was the Founder, Artistic Director, Programmer, and Featured Artist for The Bumpin' Big Top, a circus that ran for 2 years during the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. Graphic design credits include Art Director of the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, Book Designer for Whirlwind Press, and Graphic Designer for many other artists, non-profits, and other businesses. Video credits include creating projections for Group Motion Dance Company and a Dance Film presented by Philadelphia Dance Projects in Dance Boom!.

Jodi Netzer often collaborates with her partner Michael B. Schwartz (murals, painting, drawing, arts education, community arts organizing) on local and national projects, workshops and presentations.
